Executive Summary
The 2024 Surface Seal Project (Project) will resurface approximately 17 centerline miles of roadways throughout the city. City staff reviewed the construction documents and recommends the City Council approve the same. Staff recommends the City Council delegate to and authorize the City Manager to award, negotiate, finalize, and execute the contract documents necessary for construction of the project. Construction documents are on file with Development Services.
Discussion
The Project is part of the City's annual Surface Seal Program CIP# ST011 and will perform preventative maintenance activities in the form of slurry sealing and microsurfacing approximately 17 centerline miles of roadways throughout the City. The project will also include traffic signal improvements at the signalized intersections within the project limits.
As with other pavement resurfacing projects, staff typically review and refine the striping and pavement markings to improve safety for all modes of travel. Typical striping and pavement marking refinements include adding new bike lanes or enhancing existing bike lanes, where sufficient space exists.
