Introduction

Pursuant to the City of San Marcos Compensation and Reimbursement Policy (“Policy”), City Council Members may receive reimbursement for, or payment of, expenses incurred while performing official duties.  Section D of the Policy describes the types of official duties for which reimbursement or payment is authorized which have been determined to be in furtherance of a public purpose in accordance with California Code of Regulations §18944.1.

 

Discussion

The following events are presented for a determination to the effect that attendance would constitute official duties in furtherance of a public purpose, and otherwise meet Policy requirements for City Council approval for distribution of tickets to:

 

•                     Councilmember LeBlang, Councilmember Nunez, Mayor Jones to attend the EDC Annual Dinner.

•                     Mayor Jones to attend the Asian Pacific American Coalition 13th Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony.

•                     Councilmember Nunez to attend the League of California Cities Annual Conference.

 

Attendance is deemed to support good governance by fostering and enhancing relations with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities in San Diego County, and participating in a statewide municipal conference.

 

Fiscal Impact 

 

The fiscal impact to the approved Fiscal Year 2024-25 General Fund (Fund 100) budget is as follows:

 

•                     EDC Annual Dinner - $263.49 each

•                     APAC Annual Dinner - $81.88

•                     LOCC Annual Conference - $650.00

 

The expenditures fall within the approved budget for Council Special Event Funds.
