Introduction
San Marcos Municipal Code (SMMC) section 2.12.020 provides that the City Council may at any regular meeting, cancel the holding of a regularly scheduled Council meeting. Pursuant to SMMC section 2.12.020, the City Council will consider canceling the August 11, 2026 and August 25, 2026 meetings. The next regularly scheduled City Council meeting would be on September 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
Discussion
The City Council may formally cancel meetings pursuant to SMMC section 2.12.020 by taking action at a preceding regular meeting. A notice of the cancellation is to be posted conspicuously by the City Clerk on or near the door of the Council Chambers within twenty-four (24) hours after the meeting ordering the cancellation.
In the event a subject of importance must be acted upon before the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting, a special meeting could be called upon giving proper notice of a specific date and time. The next regularly scheduled City Council meeting following the canceled meetings will be on September 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.
