Introduction

Historically the City Council has only convened one time during the month of August to accommodate family summer vacation schedules. San Marcos Municipal Code (SMMC) 2.12.020 allows the City Council, at any regular meeting, may cancel the holding of the next regular meeting of said Council. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council will be on September 8, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

Discussion

The City Council may formally cancel meetings pursuant to SMMC 2.12.020 by taking action at a preceding regular meeting and a notice of the cancellation be posted conspicuously by the City Clerk on or near the door of the Council Chambers within twenty-four (24) hours after the meeting ordering the cancellation.  In the event that a subject of importance must be acted upon before the next regularly scheduled city council meeting, a special meeting could be called being properly noticed to a specific date and time. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council will be on September 8, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

Fiscal Impact

There is no fiscal impact with the recommended action.
