Executive Summary
The 2026 Neighborhood Reinvestment Program provides grant funds to non-profit organizations and public agencies for one-time community, social, environmental, education, cultural or recreational needs. The San Marcos Fire Department was awarded $70,810 in grant funds to procure deployable shelters, lighting systems and climate control to support the multi-agency Regional Task Force (RTF) which include Carlsbad, Camp Pendleton, CAL FIRE, Oceanside, and Escondido during catastrophic incidents throughout the state.

Discussion
The County of San Diego Neighborhood Reinvestment Program Grant awarded the San Marcos Fire Department $70,810 for 2026. Awarded grant funds will be utilized to procure three (3) deployable shelters, lighting systems, and a climate control unit for the RTF team. The RTF is a multi-agency team consisting of personnel from the San Marcos Fire Department, Carlsbad Fire Department, CAL FIRE, Escondido Fire Department, Oceanside Fire Department, and Camp Pendleton Fire Department.

The equipment will enhance the RTF’s ability to support emergency response operations throughout the State of California. Two (2) larger deployable shelters will provide sleeping accommodation for more than 30 personnel, while the third shelter will serve as a mobile administrative workspace for incident management and support functions.
