Executive Summary
Under Title II of the ADA, the City of San Marcos is required to have an up to date Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan ("ADA Transition Plan") to receive state and federal pass through funding for various eligible program and facility accessibility services. The City of San Marcos currently engages the CJPIA to provide risk management services as well as general liability and property insurance programs. As part of this comprehensive risk management program, a recent risk evaluation was completed related to City's current ADA Transition Plan.
Discussion
The CJPIA has recommended that the City of San Marcos utilize the ADA Assistance Program, in which it partners with Disability Access Consultants (DAC) to assist member agencies in updating and evaluating the required ADA Transition Plan. As such, City staff recommends entry into an MOU with the CJPIA to engage in the ADA Assistance Program to update the ADA Transition Plan as it relates to City facilities and public right of way.
