Executive Summary
The State of California Building Standards Commission updates the California Code of Regulations Building Standards Code, Title 24 as it relates to construction and property maintenance approximately every three (3) years. Once the State has approved the Building Standard Codes they are published, and all local jurisdictions are mandated to apply the new regulations, typically within 180 days. Local jurisdictions may amend the Codes to be more restrictive provided the amendments are based on local climatic, geological, and topographical conditions.
Discussion
The proposed Ordinance and the specified proposed modifications to Title 17 of the San Marcos Municipal Code ("SMMC") incorporates updates included in the 2022 California Building Standards Code, as set forth in Attachment A. These changes represent minor adjustments to SMMC requirements. Adoption of the proposed Ordinance will not affect current processes or business operations.
