Executive Summary
The subject project will extend the westbound duel left-turn lanes on San Marcos Boulevard and Rancho Santa Fe Road intersection by approximately 160 feet.

Discussion
Capital Improvement Project (CIP) #ST005, San Marcos Boulevard Reconstruction, scope includes the removal and replacement of deteriorated pavement, removal of pavers at intersections, replacement of traffic signals, ADA improvements, and replacement of damaged and uplifted curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, along San Marcos Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Rancho Santa Fe Road.

For improved quality control and constructability, the project will be split into phases. The first phase of the project consists of extending the westbound dual left-turn lanes on San Marcos Boulevard at the Rancho Santa Fe Road intersection. Future phases will include all other aspects of the project described above.
The proposed left-turn lane extension has been analyzed to improve intersection operations San Marcos High School. The project is proposed to be constructed during the summer months, when school traffic is low.
