Introduction
Each year the City's roadways are assessed and a project is developed based on the condition of the roadway, intensity of use, and availability of funds. The roadway treatment is selected to provide the best cost benefit, new driving surface and extend pavement life. A project is then awarded for the maintenance of roadways as part of the City's comprehensive pavement maintenance program.

Discussion
The Annual Surface Seal - 2017 project (CIP #86008) consists of slurry sealing various streets throughout the City. A map depicting the locations of the project is provided as an attachment to this report.

On August 15, 2017 City staff publicly opened bids for the construction of the project:
1. American Asphalt South, Inc. $465,015.81
2. VSS International $540,000.00
3. Roy Allen Slurry Seal $574,062.57
4. Intermountain Slurry Seal $619,916.00
5. All American Asphalt $676,785.17

American Asphalt South, Inc. has been verified as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Therefore, staff recommends awarding the construction contract to American Asphalt South, Inc.

The selected contractor has forty five (45) working days to complete the project.

Fiscal Impact
The project is budgeted in the approved Fiscal Year 2017-2018 CIP budget and is funded with Gas Tax Funds (200) and TransNet Funds (404). The total available project budget is $1,000,000.00.
