Executive Summary
Proposition 68 statewide park grant program is currently providing funding for parks and recreation opportunities in critically underserved communities. Upwards of $650,000,000 will be distributed for cities, counties and non-profits through this program. Eligible projects for this funding include creating new parks or the expansion or renovation an existing park. Staff is seeking to apply for a portion of these funds to implement enhancements at Bradley Park.
Discussion
Previously, San Marcos has received funds from Proposition 84 to create Connors Park. Proposition 68 continues this legacy. This grant application is focusing on improvements at Bradley Park. Bradley Park is eligible for this grant program as it is identified as being located in a critically underserved community. Bradley Park has an existing master park plan that was approved by City Council in 2014. The projects included in this application will provide three substantial features as outlined in the park master plan. The application will request funding to include building a dog park, a shaded 5-12 year old playground, an adaptive playground for 2-5 and 5-12 year olds, as well as the removal of two dilapidated structures.
