Introduction
Pursuant to the City of San Marcos Compensation and Reimbursement Policy ("Policy"), City Council Members may receive reimbursement for, or payment of, expenses incurred while performing official duties. Section D of the Policy describes the types of official duties for which reimbursement or payment is authorized, which have been determined to be in furtherance of a public purpose in accordance with California Code of Regulations? 18944.1.
Discussion
The following event is presented for a determination that attendance would constitute official duties in furtherance of a public purpose and otherwise meet Policy requirements for City Council approval for distribution of a ticket to:
* Mayor Jim Desmond for attendance to the North County Economic Summit April 12, 2017, in the amount of $150.00 per ticket
* Council Member Kristal Jabara for attendance to the League of California Cities Annual Conference & Expo October 5-7, 2016, in the amount of $575.00 per ticket and hotel costs in the amount of $436.22
* Vice Mayor Rebecca Jones for attendance to the North San Diego Business Chamber 2017 Honoring our Region's Heroes September 19, 2017, in the amount of $40.00
The events involve a significant regional governmental entity and support a non-profit purpose. Attendance at the events will promote and support programs rendered by this entity that benefit City residents, and will enhance relations with such entities and are for the City Council's consideration.
