Executive Summary
The City has long had plans to construct an auxiliary apparatus storage facility at Fire Station 3 to improve equipment management. A 2021 contract awarded was terminated due to the contractor's failure to perform. To move forward, staff recommends rebidding the project, with budget impacts to be evaluated post-bid and addressed by the City Council prior to contract award.

Discussion
Fire Station 3 has been identified as the location for the construction of an auxiliary apparatus storage facility. The purpose of this facility is to provide storage for secondary apparatus used by the fire station. This will allow the Fire Department to efficiently store, manage, and maintain critical equipment. This project also contemplates the replacement of the main fire station's bay doors, as they are also reaching the end of their useful life.

In 2021 the City originally bid the project, resulting in award to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The low bidder was unable to timely perform required work despite the City's efforts to secure the same, resulting in the termination of the contract. The City is actively working towards achieving a resolution on differential cost related to the anticipated increases caused by the contractor's failure to perform.
