Introduction
San Marcos Municipal Code (SMMC) section 2.12.020 provides that the City Council may at any regular meeting, cancel the holding of a regularly scheduled Council meeting. Pursuant to SMMC section 2.12.020, the City Council will consider canceling the December 23, 2025 regular City Council meeting. The next regularly scheduled City Council meeting would be on January 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
Discussion
The City Council may formally cancel meetings pursuant to SMMC section 2.12.020 by taking action at a preceding meeting. A notice of the cancellation is to be posted conspicuously by the City Clerk on or near the door of the Council Chambers within twenty-four (24) hours after the meeting ordering the cancellation.
In the event a subject of importance must be acted upon before the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting, a special meeting could be called upon giving proper notice of a specific date and time. The next regularly scheduled City Council meeting following the canceled meeting will be on January 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.
