Introduction
The 2014 Slurry Seal Project is part of the City's annual pavement maintenance and rehabilitation program. The application of Type I and Type II Latex Modified Quickset Emulsion Aggregate Slurry Seals are a preventative maintenance activity on asphalt pavements that are in good/very good condition or is the second step in a two-part process following a chip seal on pavements that are in a fair/good condition. In either case the treatments are estimated to extend the pavement life approximately 5-7 years. The work was constructed on various collector and residential roadways and selected City owned parking lots within the City of San Marcos (see attachment Appendix B for a complete list of streets).
Discussion
The 2014 Seal Coat Project has been completed to a combined 5,541,088 square feet of roadways in accordance with the contract specifications. The roadways in the Coronado Hills development that include Washingtonia Dr, Cycad Dr and Phoenix Way were removed from the list of streets to be sealed to allow for a further assessment of the roadway conditions as a result of the Coco's fire and will be included in the following year's pavement maintenance and rehabilitation program.
