Introduction
The City Council approved Resolution No. 2014-7869 on January 14, 2014 authorizing the City to apply for the Housing Related Parks Program grant in the amount of $1,400,000. The program is designed to reward cities and counties that approved and permitted construction of affordable housing program for low- and very low-income households. The grant funds will be used for the design and construction of Phase I of Richmar Park which will be located at the intersection of Richmar Avenue and Firebird Lane adjacent to the post office.

Discussion
The City has been notified that it has been preliminarily awarded a grant as a result of the January 2014 application requesting a total of $1,400,000. The award is $1,481,950; slightly larger than the requested amount. HCD's legal division is now requiring that the City Council resolution include the awarded amount. The attached resolution is very similar to Resolution No. 2014-7869, the one previously approved by the City Council approving the grant application, but now includes the awarded amount of $1,481,950 as required by HCD.

Fiscal Impact
The approval of the attached resolution does not have a fiscal impact. While the park has not yet been designed, staff is estimating that the annual maintenance costs will be approximately $50,000 a year. The majority of the maintenance costs will be paid for by the General Fund.
